Itinerary A Cyclists Paradice
Our cyclists enjoy the easy cycling paths and the more rigorous mountain biking trails where there are plenty of opportunities to test your skills.
Ideas for cycling through the great area of East Auckland
Cycle paths are shared with walking paths in many of the reserves.
The Pakuranga Rotary Walk and Cycleway is a shared path and very popular with families and also local fitness enthusiasts.
The Cascades Paths through Lloyd Elsmore and surrounding suburbs is an easy recreational ride.
The Pine Harbour/Beachlands to Maraetai Walkway has some shared sections for cycling.
More challenging biking can be enjoyed in the more rural Pohutukawa Coast - around Beachlands, Maraetai and Clevedon areas, and this sport is becoming extremely popular. Some tracks are through commercial forests and are closed when logging is taking place.
For a great 10km Clifton Peninsular ride check out this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEiPQ4P4iQk. The loop is a 10km pathway or 7km road. I often ‘add on’ by riding the loop twice or adding on the road section, riding it in the other direction or riding to it from Beachlands. Lots of choice! The perfect place for a mini cycling adventure. Courtesy of Janet Stark, local Cycling Coach and alround Cycling Guru.
